We are excited to share our member Tim's transformation story. Most of you at the gym have met Tim, but I can guarantee you don't know how far he has come since joining.
My name is Tim Greene and here’s a short story on why I am at Crossfit Holly Springs. Growing up I’ve always been athletic. I’ve played football, baseball, track and field, golf, wrestled and was a diver. I grew up in a family that was into sports and I have two other brothers that I was always competing against to be bigger, better and stronger than they were. I also grew up in a home where sugars, fats, and fried foods were prevalent and a daily part of my diet. As an athlete in high school and being very active I never gained any substantial amount of weight due to my diet. Fast forward several years and here comes this woman in my life who is athletic, into sports and had somewhat of a normal diet. Sara Ann and I met, were engaged and married within a year and we started our lives together. Sara Ann was always wanting to try different diets out that athlete’s were doing and she was always wanting to be active. I was a homebody, I wanted to stay home, play video games and watch football. Heck, I was married and young. I had no intention on spending my morning or evening working out or going on walks or runs. I honestly thought Sara Ann was a little crazy for always wanting to workout and eat healthy. Sara Ann would have eggs, turkey sausage and avocado for breakfast and I would have a cinnamon roll package all to myself! Yes I would eat the whole package of cinnamon rolls, 8 that is. About 4 years into our marriage I was reaching about 200 pounds and when we first got married I was 145 pounds! I remember Sara coming into the kitchen and telling me she’s signed up to do a Crossfit Class in Marietta and wanted me to come along. I literally laughed at her because I had heard about this “Crossfit” and thought to myself “this is a cult.” I made fun of her all the time about her “WOD’s” and asked her how many push-ups and burpees she could do. I selfishly was making fun of her for something she loved doing .I kept telling myself this CrossFit thing wasn't for me! I always told Sara Ann that she would never see me in Crossfit and that it’s not a gym. Sara got pregnant with Hudson and she continued to work out throughout her pregnancy. Hudson showed up into this world and I showed this world what 245 pounds, a 40-inch waist and a depressed person I was. I had reached an all time low in my life. I was fat and I’m not ashamed to say that. I had completely let myself go and was very unhappy. I had a wife who even after giving birth was smoking hot and still looked ten times better than me. Through my selfishness and disrespect to my wife and my body I had let myself go.
December 1 st 2014 Sara Ann get’s an email from Crossfit Holly Springs with a “Golden Ticket” invite to bring a friend to CFHS for a month free membership. Sara Ann was still pushing me to try CrossFit so she sent the email to me telling me to try it out. Oddly enough, I took that Golden ticket into CFHS on January 3rd , walked into the gym and walked right back out. I thought to myself that this is the stupidest thing! I have been making fun of Crossfit for so long and now I’m going? As I was walking out of the gym, leaving for good I heard a voice from one of the coaches…”Where are you going?” My heart literally stopped and I turned around and told her I was just getting my gum. I can tell you this, if that coach had not come out and asked where I was going, I would not be where I’m at today! Crossfit has not only changed my health and my body, it has changed my life. The people and coaches at CFHS truly care about you and your health. They’re always teaching you and guiding you to do what is best for your body. They don’t push you to limits that you’re not ready to be pushed to. It’s not a cult or a gym, it’s a family. There is always something new and exciting going on and if CFHS were not as inviting as they have been every day, then I would not be where I’m at today. I eat healthier and I have reached more goals as a 35-year- old man then I did in high school. I’m truly blessed to be apart of this amazing family that continues to grow in our community ,but more importantly my heart. Thank you CFHS for helping me now be at 185 pounds and into a 34-inch waist pants again. CFHS has given me the tools and taught me how to stay healthy and fit for life. I’m blessed that CFHS has helped me in losing over 60 pounds and keeping it off ever since joining.
One thing Tim shared with me is that he made a commitment when he joined to come everyday and start eating healthy for 1 year and that's exactly what he has done. Tim is a great example of how making changes to your lifestyle and becoming active can make a big impact on your life.
